Our heroes crash a toga party, in which there is wine and cake to be had. Jack partakes in a little interplanetary relations and ends up with the galactic clap. Teal'c and Daniel get down to studying Pelops' Dr. Moreau style meanderings and Sam practices her eyerolling on Jack. Jack slowly morphs into his grandpappy, dispelling the myth that a younger woman makes you feel young again, Daniel and Teal'c discover Goa'uld is actually Linear A...never to be referenced again, and Sam teams up with Janet to make the Colonel young..er, again. Jack changes his shuffleboard plans and decides livin' ain't all that bad.

SQUEEEEEE

Being new to the SG-1 fandom, I've been renting Season 1 DVDs from my local mom-and-pop video store, and I've just watched the episode "Brief Candle". Your icons and ep summary are perfect timing!

So what's the canonical explanation for how the Argosian society supports itself? Where were the laborers who plant & harvest the produce and the spinners & weavers of the sumptuous textiles and... OK I'll stop now. The 25th was my b-day and I spent it writing fanfic, LOL.

Happy Birthday for yesterday hon! *huggles*

Re: Argosian industry and economics, ah... don't you know you're not supposed to think too hard about these things?!!??! :P There is no canonical explanation of course, maybe Pelops stole the Asgard tech for that thingie they used in New Order and Unending to create materials like food and clothing? That's the best I can come up with. :P

Love the icons and the particularly awsome summary of the ep. :)

I'm extending to you a personal invitation to participate in Round 3 of [livejournal.com profile] sg1_lims, a general SG-1 LIMS competition. Sign-ups are already open and the images for the first eight challenges have been posted.

Thanks for the invite hon, much appreciated, but I don't think I will be able to participate. I will be losing my web access in the near future and I'm not sure when it will be back as we're switching ISPs and they're fickle bitches at the best of times. :P

I might pop in afterwards and watch the results as I've seen some pretty good work come from your community before. :)

*sigh* I knew it was likely that this would be your response since I hadn't seen you participating in other icon contests but I thought it was worth a shot. I would have liked to add your free-form creativity to the mix of participants. Your love of Jack/Daniel was pure icing. ;)

You're welcome in the comm any time regardless of whether you're entering icons.

I am a regular participant at [livejournal.com profile] oneill_icontest & [livejournal.com profile] dv_everyday, mind you I just started entering in the last few months, I really didn't think I had the talent or focus worth bothering before.

I really can't make any promises because I just don't know when my net will be back up (I am at below dial up speed currently and couldn't even load your images for the challenge!) If I can get back online and up to speed (my new ISP will be 15 times faster!) in time I will try to pop over there and enter what I can, I just really don't want to commit myself to something I might not be able to follow through with.

Huh...I'm a member of oneill_icontest but I guess I haven't been checking as often as I thought I had been. So maybe it wasn't as much a long shot as I thought. :)

I completely understand about only making promises you know you can keep -- and I respect that. If the cap won't even download that's a serious problem. We try to choose the highest quality images we can and they tend to be huge.

p.s. Yay for new ISPs! I hope the new one works better for you than the old -- I'll keep my fingers crossed for it.

I went and had a read through of how the comm works and I'm pretty confused as hell. :P

It's one challenge per week? And the results of the voting for that week determined who is voted out? I'm lost! :P

It's a LIMS contest, which stands for Last Icon Maker Standing contest. All the competitors sign up at the beginning of a round and submit an icon per week for as long as they're in the competition. Each week, we vote and the makers of the icons deemed to be the least technically proficient are eliminated from the pool. It goes until only one person is left.

The value for the maker is in the anonymous voting since it requires that voters state the reason for their votes. In the best of all possible worlds, it inspires makers to be experimental and improve their icon making skills.

Thanks for clearing that up! Ok, I'll try and have a go and get that first one in early I guess before I lose my net (my current ISP took the cap off for the next few days.)

Thanks for all your help. :)
